PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING OR POSTING

Thanks for joining us, and welcome to the group! Please add a few local friends and help us grow.

The Membership Charter is subject to change, and may be revised from time to time as needed.

Our Awesome Admin Team volunteer their time to make this group run smoothly and cost nothing. Please be respectful of this. Most questions can be answered by reading these rules. Please check before asking.

Please do not message Admins or Mods directly as you will get a reply faster by using the links in the pinned post. If you message an Admin directly you may not get a response. Sometimes we are away from Facebook for extended periods of time.

The pinned post (near the top of the group wall) is the fastest way to have your questions answered and to contact the on duty admin team.

RULES FOR ALL MEMBERS;

1. WHAT THE LAWYERS TOLD US TO SAY;

a. By joining this group, you agree to release, hold harmless, and indemnify the group and the admin team, their heirs, and successors, from any and all liability, damages, and claims thereto, real or perceived, that arises from the use of this group. If you do not agree to the terms of this rule, you must immediately remove yourself from this group.

b. You must be at least 18 years old to legally enter into contracts in the Province of B.C., and you must be 18 to be a member of this group.

2. HARASSMENT POLICY;

Do not bully, harass, swear at, accuse, intimidate, make rude comments, offer your unsolicited opinions, or deter other bidders from bidding. You will be removed immediately if you act like that.

3. COMMUNICATION

a. Strong communication is extremely important in this group and can often prevent issues before they happen.

b. When an auction closes it is the sellers responsibility to tag the winning bidder and send them a private message.

c. When an auction closes and a winner is tagged it is the winners responsibility to message the seller.

d. If for any reason you are unable to complete a transaction at any time for any reason, you must contact the other party as soon as your situation allows. This is your responsibility.

e. If you have an issue with another member please try to work it out amicably with them before contacting admin. Polite discussion often resolves issues and saves time and hard feelings. If this doesn't work please save the conversation and contact admin.

f. Over 90% of communication in the group is online by text. This can often cause misunderstanding and misinterpretation. Please be mindful of this and love them or not, never underestimate the power of a smile emoji.

4. PLACING A BID;

a. By placing a comment with a price, on an auction, you are entering into an agreement to buy that item.

b. Bids must be placed by means of an original comment on the sales post. Bids placed in reply to a comment will always be disqualified as invalid.

c. Bidder and seller have 24 hours after the auction closes to make contact with each other and arrange pickup. The bidder has 72 hours after the auction closes to pick the item(s) up.

d. Please do not bid if you can not pickup the item within 3 days. If you require extra time or special arrangements for pickup please message the seller for permission and arrangements BEFORE you place your bid. If the seller is willing to extend pickup, that's totally cool, but they are not obligated to do so.

e. Bids are only valid if they are in increments of $0.50.

Examples of valid bids; $1. , $5.00, $103.50, $10.50, $42.00, four dollars, twenty dollars and fifty cents, etc.

Examples of invalid bids; $5.55, $0.01, $157.85, $93.20, $4.20, $0.69 etc.

f.If you are placing a numeric bid that ends in a $0.50 increment you are required to use a decimal point (.).

5. DO NOT EDIT OR DELETE BIDS;

a. Members are not permitted to delete, or edit bids. If you place a bid and remove it or edit it, you risk immediate removal from the group.

b. If you make a mistake please place another bid with the correction as soon as possible. Admin will do their best to find the most fair resolution.

c. A bid that has been edited will always be disqualified as invalid.

6. AUCTIONS STYLES & TIMES;

ORIGINAL STYLE (Default);

a. Auctions are for a 24 hour duration. For example; if an auction is posted at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, it ends at 11:59:59 AM on Monday.

b. The winning bid will be the highest bid placed before the end of the auction time.

c. All auctions are automatically this style unless clearly specified by the seller

LAST MEMBER STANDING STYLE (if selected by seller);

A Last Member Standing (LMS) style of auction is more complicated than a normal (default) style of auction.

It is recommended that you use this style of auction AFTER you have become proficient in using the normal style of auction.

Please refer back to this information when you wish to use Last Member Standing for your auction, or to bid on an LMS auction.

- A seller may choose this style by including “Last Member Standing” in the auction description at the time of posting. Admins/Moderators do check whether "Last Member Standing" has been edited into the auction post after the auction was posted. If it has been edited in more than 5 minutes after the auction was posted, Last Member Standing will not apply.

- All auctions posted using this style are for at least a 24 hours duration. If an auction was posted at noon on Tuesday, the last time to place a qualifying bid is during 11:59 a.m. Wednesday.

- If a member places a valid bid in the last 5 minutes of the auction (between 11:55:00 a.m. - 11:59:59 a.m.), this triggers a war, and extends the end time of the auction by 5 minutes - regardless of when during that last 5 minutes LMS was triggered. For example, if a bid is made at 11:56:00 or at 11:58:32, the end time of the auction is now 12:04:59 regardless of when the bid was made in that last 5 minutes.

Important Note: Five minutes actually = 4 minutes 59 seconds (similar to 24 hours = 23 hours 59 minutes). So when deciding to place a bid, Remember to place it BEFORE the 5 minute mark.

- Each subsequent bid REstarts the end-time clock for 5 minutes.

- Any member who has placed a valid bid in the normal 24-hour auction time may continue placing bids within 5-minute windows of the last bid.

- This means that someone cannot START bidding after the normal end time without a previous bid in the normal 24 hour period.

- The war will end when 5 minutes (or more accurately, 4 minutes 59 seconds) have elapsed from the last valid bid.

- An Admin/Moderator MUST close all LMS auctions, because they are bidding wars. Please request a close using I Need Admin as usual for all auctions ending in a bidding war.

Further Notes:

- If a member DOES start bidding after the normal end time without a previous bid in the normal 24 hour period, these bids are invalid and not considered in determining the winning bid.

- It is not the seller's or any bidder's responsibility to determine if bids are valid or not, especially during a bidding war, which Last Member Standing triggers.

- Admins/Moderators simply do not have the time nor even know that there is an LMS auction that is closing, to be monitoring these auctions as they are ending.

- Once the invalid bids are excluded, and if a bidder is in effect bidding against ONLY him or herself, that person's first bid (following the last valid bid made by another bidder) is the winning bid - and not any subsequent higher bids made against invalid bids.

General Info;

-If you are on a mobile device you will not be able to see the exact time stamps. Admin only calls wars from laptops and personal computers where time stamps are visible.

-If you are on a mobile device do not argue calls or comment why you believe you should have won. Mobile times are frequently wrong. If you feel like you need to ask for a review you may use the pinned post links for an auction needing closing.

-If you can see admin has made a mistake please use the pinned post links for an auction needing closing.

-If two bids of the same amount are placed, the bid that was placed first will be considered the winning bid.

-In the event of a discrepancy between the time stamps in the Photo Section of the group, and the time stamps on the Group Wall, the latter shall prevail.

7. NO SIDE DEALS / NO BUY IT NOW;

a. We only allow auctions in this group, and unlike ebay we don't do "buy it now" or "or best offer".

b. No side deals or offers to buy before the auction ends are allowed. If you want to buy an item, place a bid.

c. If you offer to buy an item or low ball a starting bid, you risk being removed from the group.

 8. COMMENTING ON AUCTIONS

a. We encourage questions related to the purchase of an item, *'s to watch an item and get notifications, tagging a friend who you think might be interested in buying the item, and of course we encourage valid bids. Comments other than that are not wanted and both the comment and the person who made the comment may be removed by Admin.

b. Once an auction has been closed, don't comment on it any more. If you need Admin for any reason please use the links in the pinned post.

c. Conversations, sharing stories and making pickup arrangements are great, but they all need to be done by private message. An auction post is not the appropriate place for these discussions as it is unfair to everyone else in the group.

9. BUYER BEWARE

a. The seller is responsible for describing the item up for auction accurately and completely and making themselves available to answer questions about the item if able. Mistakes or inaccurate descriptions will result in the bidder having the right to decline the item. Posting inaccurate descriptions or misrepresenting items may result in suspension if complaints are received.

b. The bidder is responsible for asking any questions about the item, researching the item, and ensuring the item is appropriate for their intended use before placing a bid. Once a bid is placed the bidder is obligated to pay that amount (if they win the auction).

c. The bidder is responsible for examining the item at pickup before paying the seller. It is best practice to try/test/examine the item before paying. If the item is not as described or does not work then do not pay the seller. If the seller does not allow you to properly examine the item or tries to rush you, do not pay the seller.

d. When buying a used cell phone or tablet; Ask for the IMEI number, and ask if the phone is locked to a certain service provider. Check with your service provider to ensure the phone will work on your network by providing them the IMEI number.

e. When buying an iPhone or certain other Apple products, check to make sure the device is not "iCloud Locked". If it is, ask the seller for the password and ensure it works. If the seller is unable to unlock the device, then do not buy the device.

f. Always check to see if any items have a recall that could effect the use of the item, or compromise the safety of anyone in your family who might use the item.

10. FOLLOW THROUGH ON YOUR BIDS;

a. If you don't make arrangements to pickup an item you won within 24 hours of closing, or don't pickup the item within 72 hours of closing, the seller has the right to offer it to the runner up, or repost the item, and not accept your bids.

b. If you don't pickup an item within 72 hours (or when you made arrangements to prior to bidding) you risk being suspended from the group.

11. GENERAL;

a. If you block an Admin or if an Admin feels they must block you, you will be permanently removed from the group without warning.

b. Please try and avoid blocking other members. If you are being harassed, please block the person who is harassing you right away and use the links in the pinned post to contact admin.

c. Please make sure you have exact change when picking up an item.

d. Out of town members are more than welcome in the group! If you're posting small things, please state where you will be able to meet the buyer in Kamloops and when. If you're posting large items (typically items that take more than 1 person to move) please state the out of town pickup location in all CAPS at the very start of your description, and allow members to decide if they are able to pickup.

RULES FOR SELLERS;

12. PLACING AN AD;

a. Please use the Sell Something feature at the top of the group wall. Do NOT create an album or start a discussion.

b. Place up to 2 pictures only, then put all additional photos in the comments section of your sales post.

c. Place only a title in the "What are you selling?" field.

d. The description field must be filled in and must include which part of town for pickup, the starting bid, and an accurate description of what you are selling. Be descriptive and tell it like it is.

e. If you misrepresent something, the buyer has the right to refuse, and you may be suspended for multiple complaints.

13. GENERAL;

a. Please post only as many ads a day as you can reasonably tend to. The admins are here to help, but we are volunteers. Please respect that, and look after your auctions as best as you can.

b. Please try to be available 24 hours after you post an auction to close it and make arrangements with the buyer for pickup.

c. Auctions that give members the option to purchase more of the same item at the winning price are not allowed. Please post a separate auction for each item, or lot them together to be sold as a group.

d. You may use stock photos, but you always have to have at least one original photo of the item(s) you are selling.

14. CLOSING THE AUCTION;

a. If there are more than 2 bids in the last 15 or so minutes of an auction, or if you are on a mobile and can not see the auction times, you need an admin to help close. Please comment on the pinned post including the exact title of the auction or a link.

b. If there are more than 2 bids but the last one was more than 15 minutes before the auction closed, or if there was only 1 bid before the last 15 minutes, please close the auction yourself.

c. You do this by typing “CLOSED Buyers Name $amount of the high bid

(Example; CLOSED Jasper Bailey $17.00).

15. FOLLOW THROUGH WITH YOUR POSTS / PICKUP;

a. Please make sure you message your winning bidder as soon as you can after the close of the auction. Pickup arrangements need to be made within 24 hours. The sooner you arrange pickup, the sooner you get paid!

b. Please ensure you are giving your buyers an adequate window of time to pick up their winnings. Giving someone a very short window of time makes it hard for some people, and discourages good buyers.

c. Please be as flexible as possible and work with your buyers to arrange a speedy pickup.

d. If you post an auction in the group it must stay up for a full 24 hours. If you remove an auction early or sell it before the auction closes, you may be removed from the group without warning.

e. Items must not be posted in any other auction group. Posts in other fixed price groups are fine, but the post must remain in this group for 24 hours and the poster must honour all valid bids.

16. BUMPS / BUMPING;

a. This is an important tool for sellers as it brings the auction post to the top of the group. We allow you to bump a total of 5 times per ad.

b. Please bump by typing "bump" in the comments for the first 4, and "Final bump - ending soon" for the last bump.

c. Posting unsolicited information or photos other than within the first 5 minutes after posting, counts as a bump.

d. Please do not post closing times or how many minutes/hours are left, as this can be confusing.

e. Admin may bonus bump ads from time to time to help keep the group wall fresh with current content. Bonus bumps do not count as sellers bumps (so if a post has been bonus bumped by admin, the seller still gets 5 bumps).

17. DELETING ADS/MARKING ADS AS SOLD;

a. Please DO NOT mark your auction as sold until AFTER the buyer has picked up the item(s) and paid you.

b. If your auction closes with no bids please delete it right away. You may re-post any time.

c. If the winner has picked up the item and paid you, please delete the auction or mark it as sold.

d. Auctions that close with no bids and auctions that are 7 days old or more may be deleted by the Admin team without warning.

e. If you are having trouble contacting a buyer or seller, or if an item was not picked up within 72 hours, please use this group to report a member;
